Since several months (or years?) immersed in the paintings of Herri met de Bles, Brueghel (father and sons), Joachim Patinir, Joos de Momper,Dûrer, Izaak van Oosten and other Flemish paintings, I sleep, eat, speak and live with them.

Inside, outside, their landscapes are more real to me than the view from my 23 m2 studio on the 8th floor of the tower where I work.

The Flemish painting with the American landscapes painting were already an inspiration to me in my last serie "Lost in Paradise Lost - Domestic life, Wild Life" from 2022. So it was quite logical that the Flemish painting has now swallowed all my imaginary…

It’s a tribute, an interpretation, a reinterpretation, a re-composition.

It’s an obsession.

I have picked a rock, a mountain, a detail and I have zoomed, mixed, shaked and shuffled everything. I have superimposed, imitated, composed, recomposed, copied and explored the shapes of the mountains or the strengh of the details.

The substrate – Coated Nepalese paper with it’s irregular texture has enriched with it’s personnality the watercolor ink I used.
